Águia Química started activities in 1999 in Ponta Grossa/PR by supplying raw material for paint, sandpaper, and adhesive markets. Our history, however, goes back 10 years from then, in 1989, when the Chemical Division of Águia Sistemas was create to supply paints for their own demand.
With the know-how acquired during the period serving as supporting area to the other company, the Chairman envisioned an opportunity to enter a promising market, the resin production market, and separated Águia Systems Chemical Division and turned it into an independent company that was denominated Águia Química Ltda.
The company started operating in the market with a small 1-m3 reactor that produced approximately 35 tons of resin monthly and has continuously expanded since then. With the continued business growth, the first production plant started to be enlarged and reached the limit capacity of 1,250 tons per months. Due to the great demand for the company products, a new plant was inaugurated in 2008, which doubled production capacity to around 2.500 tons per months. Águia Química continues growing and a new plant is already being built, with inauguration expected for the end of 2011, which will double again its production capacity, expanding it to approximately 5.000 tons of resin per month.
In 2000 Águia Química achieved ISO 9001 Standard Certification, and set forth quality standards that must be followed within the company. Thus, focused on ongoing improvement and customer satisfaction, the company earned recognition of the major industry bodies, receiving several quality awards since it started activities. Among these, the awards of best resin supplier were received in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2010 granted by Sitivesp (Paints and Varnish Industry Trade Union of São Paulo State), in addition to quality awards granted by Paint & Pintura and Tintas e Vernizes magazines. By consolidating ourselves as one of the largest resin manufacturer in the country and with the purpose of offering a more comprehensive assistance to our customers, the company decided to enter into a complementary business, starting its 1st raw material distributor for the paint and coating industry in 2010, which is located in Colombo, metropolitan region of Curitiba/PR.
